BOBO Hifi is the work of brothers Matt and Lachie Bolton. What started as a childhood fascination—pulling apart and building speakers in our backyard—has evolved into an obsession with perfecting sound and design.
We believe that if you are going to bring a speaker into your home, it should do more than just make noise; it should be an object of craft and presence. We reject the idea of anonymous hi-fi. We build systems that are meant to be looked at as much as they are to be heard.
Matt: A trained architect who brings spatial and aesthetic rigour to every product. He treats the cabinet as functional architecture where every line serves a sonic purpose.
Lachie: A design and technology teacher and craftsman. He ensures every detail—from the machining of the aluminium to the final assembly—is structurally sound and visually perfect.
The name BOBO is a nod to "Bohemian Bourgeois" culture. To us, it’s a simple idea: it represents people who aren't interested in status symbols, but choose to invest in objects that are deeply meaningful, beautifully crafted, and have a story behind them. That is the spirit we bring to our speakers.
We aren't a big corporation; we are two people driven by a constant cycle of building, testing, and perfection. We are at the beginning of this journey, focused on establishing our craft through our core product lines and the bespoke projects that push our boundaries.
