BOBO Hifi was founded on a simple, singular obsession: the fusion of industrial design, architecture, and uncompromising audio quality. We believe that if you are going to bring a speaker into your space, it must do more than just make noise—it must be an object of presence, craft, and cultural intent.
We reject the idea of anonymous hi-fi. We build systems that are designed to be looked at as much as they are to be heard.
BOBO Hifi is the work of brothers Matt and Lachie Bolton, an obsession born in the early days of pulling things apart to see how they worked.
Matt (The Ideas Man) has been building and designing sound systems since his teenage years. As a trained architect, he brings a deep, spatial, and aesthetic rigour to every product. He treats the speaker cabinet not just as an enclosure, but as a piece of functional architecture where every line and material choice serves a sonic purpose, merging form and function.
Lachie (The Builder) is the craftsman who turns concept into reality. A design and technology teacher by trade, he brings an instinct for materials, the patience of an educator, and the precision required to ensure every detail—from the machining of the aluminium to the final assembly—is structurally sound and visually perfect.
We don't call ourselves a company; we call ourselves a workshop.
The name BOBO is rooted in the "Bohemian Bourgeois" culture—people who aren't materialistic for status, but will invest in objects that are deeply meaningful, beautifully crafted, and culturally significant. That is the spirit we bring to audio.
We are at the beginning of this journey, focused on establishing our craft through our core product lines and the bespoke projects that push our engineering boundaries. Our entire process is driven by the constant cycle of iteration and perfection.
